Peter Taylor hailed Jon-Paul Pittman after the livewire striker inspired Wycombe to a 3-0 victory over Aldershot.
The tricky forward created all three for Wanderers as John Akinde, Matt Phillips and a Ricky Newman own goal sealed the points for Taylor's men.
The Chairboys boss said: "Jon-Paul has taken a little bit of time to believe in himself but he is improving all the time."
He added: "I thought he was immense - his work for the goals was tremendous and I'm not sure why his own effort was disallowed.
"There are a lot of players like Jon-Paul in non-league who can make the step up - they just have to believe in themselves.
"It was a game for the individuals and with Jon-Paul stepping up, I always thought we had goals in us. If anything, I thought we could have scored a few more."
