MK Dons boss Paul Ince is hoping to complete a deal to sign experienced defender Darren Powell in the next few days.
The Dons re-signed Jason Puncheon on loan on Tuesday, and he may be the first of three more new additions to the squad.
"We're obviously playing catch-up but we are looking to sign another two or three yet," Ince told the Milton Keynes Citizen.
"It's hard when you come late into the fold and a lot of good players have been snapped up. But Powell has done well for us and we're hoping to do something with him.
"He's a natural defender and just gets the job done, plus we need cover at the back."
