Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was delighted with his side as they claimed a 2-1 victory at newly-promoted Torquay.

Brett Pitman and substitute Steve Fletcher headed goals from Liam Feeney crosses either side of Chris Todd's second-half goal for the Gulls to secure the Cherries a fifth win in six games in League Two.

Howe said: "We wanted something different in the second half after the first finished goalless. Steve Fletcher came on and got the winner so I'm obviously pleased."

He added: "I felt we missed his physical presence and it was a game suited to him in the conditions and the amount of set pieces we were getting.

"And Feeney showed what he is about, he put over two great crosses and Brett and Steve got on the end of them.

"We've made a great start, but that counts for nothing if we don't build on it. It was probably not one of our best performances so far, but it's another win."
