Knill bemoans penalty decision

Bury boss Alan Knill was left bitterly disappointed with the penalty decision that put Morecambe on their way to a 3-0 derby win.

Phil Jevons, who had a spell on loan with the Shakers last season, was the star of the show as Knill's side lost for the first time in 12 games. The striker scored twice and Ben Futcher put through his own net but it was Jevons' opener from the penalty spot - after Tom Newey appeared to handle Will Haining's' header - that most riled Knill.

"It was a dubious decision as I didn't think Tom Newey could get out of the way of it and, in a game where the first goal was always going to be vital, it was a big decision to go against us," he said.

"Until then we were sharp and played the ball around well and had come close with a shot that hit the post.

"But once that goal went in we had to change shape and the second goal was a real killer. We had a couple of chances but didn't take them and I thought we should have had a penalty ourselves at the end but it wasn't given."
