Sheffield United's teenage defender Kyle Walker could miss the home clash with Preston through injury.

Walker was forced out of the Boxing Day defeat at Leicester early in the second half and replaced by Derek Geary at right-back.

If Walker fails to make it Geary, equally at home on the right or left, is likely to retain his place.

Manager Kevin Blackwell, without Lee Williamson (hamstring) and Darius Henderson (gluteal muscle) until the end of January, is unlikely to make many changes.

Andy Taylor is expected to continue at left-back following Toni Kallio's recall by Fulham, while striker Henri Camara will be hoping to force his way back into the starting line-up after scoring his second goal for the Blades on Boxing Day.

Preston could hand a surprise recall to defender Sean St Ledger after he decided against completing a permanent move to Middlesbrough.

North End have won just one of their last nine matches but should be fresh for the trip to Bramall Lane after their Boxing Day clash with Barnsley fell victim to the weather.

But the postponement means Ross Wallace remains suspended for Monday's game after he was booked for the fifth time this season in the recent 3-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest.

Skipper Callum Davidson is hopeful of being fit despite limping off late on against Forest with cramp in his hamstring.

But French centre-half Youl Mawene (knee ligaments) and midfielder Barry Nicholson (broken leg) remain sidelined until the new year.
