Charlton moved level on points with second-placed Norwich in Coca-Cola League One after a 2-1 victory over Hartlepool at The Valley.
The Addicks went ahead after half an hour when David Mooney headed home from close range. However, the visitors were level shortly after half-time when Miguel Angel Llera fouled Antony Sweeney and Denis Behan converted the resulting penalty.
The south-east London club then regained the lead with a little over 10 minutes left when Scott Wagstaff drilled home a 30-yard shot.
Huddersfield were held to a goalless draw at home by Bristol Rovers while Leyton Orient moved out of the relegation zone with a 2-0 win over Yeovil.
Defender Tamika Mkandawire put Orient ahead in the 14th minute with a 20-yard left-footed shot for his fourth goal of the season. Scott McGleish headed home from close range with a little over 10 minutes left as the hosts moved into 18th.
Stockport are still rooted to the bottom following a 1-0 home defeat by Swindon. The goal came courtesy of Billy Paynter's penalty after 73 minutes to lift the Robins above Huddersfield, who drop a place to sixth.
A late goal by Louie Soares prevented League Two leaders Rochdale from claiming their eighth away win of the season as they were held 1-1 at Aldershot. Chris Dagnall put the visitors ahead after 74 minutes but Soares levelled from close range with three minutes left to move Aldershot into the play-off zone.
Bury moved to within a point of second-placed Bournemouth with a 2-1 victory over Bradford.
Rotherham failed to capitalise on their clash with bottom club Darlington as the Quakers clinched only their second away win of the season with a 2-1 victory at Don Valley Stadium and mid-table Port Vale secured a 3-1 win over Burton Albion.
Hereford and Crewe drew 1-1, with goals from Leon Constantine and Clayton Donaldson.
