Newcastle midfielder completes Turkish switch

Newcastle confirmed the departure of midfielder Geremi to Turkish club Ankaragucu.

The Cameroon international travelled to Turkey last month and was paraded in front of Ankaragucu fans only for Newcastle to deny a deal had been struck

But a short statement on www.nufc.co.uk on Monday morning confirmed the transfer had now been completed on the final day of the window.

Geremi joined Newcastle in 2007 but failed to make much of an impact on Tyneside.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid man is reported to have signed an 18-month contract with the club from the Turkish capital.
