Millwall striker Neil Harris grabbed his 17th goal of the season to down Hartlepool 1-0 at the New Den and keep the Lions in the promotion hunt.

The 32-year-old netted twice in the 3-1 midweek win over MK Dons and was on the scoresheet in the ninth minute after curling a deflected free-kick past Scott Flinders.

Harris attempted to turn Sam Collins on the edge of the box after eight minutes only for the Hartlepool man to drag him down.

But Harris picked himself up and fired the free-kick past Flinders via a deflection off the wall for his 11th goal in as many games.

Despite the hosts looking dangerous, Hartlepool could have levelled four minutes later when Antony Sweeney received the ball unmarked in the box but he could only fire straight at Forde.

Chris Hackett's 30-yard free-kick was palmed away by Flinders before Alan Dunne headed against the bar for the hosts in the 57th minute and David Forde stopped Ritchie Jones' header to hold on for the win.
