Gary Waddock's struggling Wycombe side claimed a valuable point against Carlisle in a stalemate at Adams Park.

Wycombe could have gone ahead after 13 minutes when Jon-Paul Pittman was put through by a good ball from John Mousinho, but his effort was saved by the Cumbrians keeper Adam Collin.

Ten minutes later Adam Clayton went close for United as he picked up the ball in good position on the left of the area but his powerful strike found the side netting.

Ian Harte's curling free-kick just after the half-hour looked to have Tom Heaton in the Chairboys goal beaten but it flew narrowly past the right-hand upright.

Shortly before the break the home side came close to a breakthrough when Matt Harrold connected with Dean Keates corner but Collin saved well and Mousinho's follow-up header dropped just wide.

Late on substitute Stuart Beavon surged forward and laid the ball into the path of a well-placed Mousinho but he could only blaze wide.
