Plymouth head coach Paul Mariner is confident that he will remain in charge of first-team affairs despite the club's relegation to League One.

Speculation has mounted that Mariner might take a job behind the scenes at Home Park when his role at the club is discussed at the end of the season, but he wanted to make his position clear.

He told the club's official website: "At this present moment, I have got no doubt that I will be picking the team next season. People in this country seem to be concerned about titles."

He added"I am not concerned about titles. I am in charge of football affairs, soup to nuts, top to bottom, whatever I'm called.

"It is up to the board. They are all-powerful and it is their club, but, as long as I'm in charge of football affairs, I will do the best I can.

"All I can do is do my best. There is nobody more disappointed than me with what has happened to the club."
