Fulham conceded an extra-time goal to Diego Forlan to bring their Europa League adventure to an agonising conclusion as they lost the Europa League final 2-1 to Atletico Madrid.
Simon Davies had levelled an opener by former Manchester United striker Forlan as the first half of the biggest match in Fulham's 131-year history finished all square.
Extra time was needed to separate the sides and it was the superb Forlan, Atletico's liveliest player, who pounced with a cruel 116th-minute winner that trickled through the legs of Brede Hangeland and past Mark Schwarzer.
