Real Madrid are confident of making Frank Lampard their latest Galactico signing if Jose Mourinho joins from Inter Milan, according to Spanish paper Marca.

Lampard has been interesting Real throughout the season and president Florentino Perez is confident the England midfielder’s relationship with prospective Madrid boss Mourinho will tempt him.

Perez believes Lampard, 31, is now in his prime, having scored 22 goals from the centre of midfield for Chelsea, and wants to pair him with Kaka in a dream midfield.

Madrid have already begun a new Galactico having spent big buck last summer to lure the Brazilian playmaker as well as Cristiano Ronaldo and Xavi Alonso.

Mourinho, who managed Lampard at Chelsea, is preparing his Inter side for the Champions League final and Perez and sporting director Jorge Valdano believe he is the man to guide Madrid back to the top of European football.

Lampard will not come cheap, though, as he bids to help make Chelsea history and clinch their first ever domestic double.
