Exeter captain Matt Taylor has distanced himself from rumours that he is set to quit St James' Park.

The 28-year-old won the supporters' player of the year award and has been linked with League One Champions Norwich and promotion-chasing Swindon after enjoying a fine season.

"A few of the lads have had a good season so there is going to be speculation. But until someone puts in a bid or speaks to the club I am not really in a position to comment. It would be wrong for me to say anything," Taylor said.

"These are only rumours at the moment and rumours start very easily in football. I am not going to take any notice until someone tells me otherwise.

"I have got a year left on my contract at Exeter so until Exeter get in touch it is not an issue for me. If I am at Exeter at the start of the season then I will be delighted."
