Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll has confirmed striker James Hayter has verbally agreed a new deal with the club.

Hayter, 31, signed by Doncaster in the summer of 2007 from Bournemouth for a then club record fee of £200,000, is poised to put pen to paper on his new contract next week.

O'Driscoll told the club's official website: "James Hayter is all done. He hasn't actually signed yet, but it's all been agreed."

He added: "It's just a case of somebody typing the contract up which, these days, is not as simple as it used to be because you have to make duplicate copies and send things to the Football Association and this, that and the other.

"James was never going to be a problem. We verbally agreed everything a couple of weeks ago. We just had a couple of things to iron out. He should sign some time next week."
