Torquay boss Paul Buckle wants to sign Chesterfield striker Martin Gritton on a permanent basis.

The League Two clubs are in talks about a loan deal for the 32-year-old, who played the first-half of United`s 3-1 pre-season friendly win over Plymouth on Tuesday night.

Buckle told the Herald Express: "I would like to bring Martin to the club full-time but a loan is the likeliest route."

He added: "Martin can win things in the air, he can hold the ball up and lay it off, especially when you get it to him with any quality. He's a handful.

"He loved the reception he got on Tuesday. Now it's about getting the terms right for Martin and his family."
