Bolton are set to continue their summer strengthening with the proposed signing of promising defender Marcos Alonso from European giants Real Madrid.
Wanderers registered their interest in Alonso a few weeks ago and the ongoing saga as to whether the Spaniard would snub a move to England for a move glamorous move to Benfica seems to be coming to an end.
Alonso has been more prominent in Madrid's B team but did make one substitute appearance in April of this year against Racing Santander whilst his side were cruising to a 2-0 victory.
Footballing success runs in Alonso's family, his grandfather played for Real Madrid for eight years and his father made over 300 appearances top flight appearances for Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, and both represented the national team.
It is expected that Alonso will be in attendance at the Trotters’ upcoming friendly against newly promoted League One side Rochdale at Spotland.
If Alonso does complete his long awaited move to Bolton he will be manager Owen Coyle's third summer signing, following the free transfers of Robbie Blake and Martin Petrov.
