Shrimpers sign defensive duo

Southend have made further additions to their squad with the double signing of Luke Prosser and Mark Phillips.

Both centre-halves have been on trial at Roots Hall and have impressed boss Paul Sturrock enough to earn one-year deals.

Prosser joins the Shrimpers following his release from Port Vale earlier this summer, while Phillips was part of Brentford's squad last term.
