New Preston recruit Darel Russell admits he signed his three-year deal with a view to reaching the Barclays Premier League.
The 29-year-old was a key figure in Norwich's League One promotion campaign last term but turned down the offer of a new deal at Carrow Road. The former Stoke man is delighted to have joined North End after being impressed by Darren Ferguson's desire to reach the top flight.
Russell said: "The plan for every team is to try and reach that promised land. I don't think anyone starting this season from day one doesn't have that objective."
He said: "If you don't have that aim and objective then I don't think you should be in this league."
