After numerous false reports and eager anticipation by the Sky Blues fans, Marlon King finally signed for the club on Monday.
With a move that has clearly divided fans opinion, Aidy Boothroyd has signed a striker with a very impressive CV and has earned the praise of his fellow new teammates based on what they have witnessed in training and in friendly matches.
It is clear from his time in prison he has returned to his football career with a huge appetite for success.
Whether this is with the Sky Blues or not, is something to ponder on.
The deal agreed is for only nine-months, until the end of the current season. It may well turn out that Marlon King has a stunning season and moves onto a bigger team on a free transfer.
The time taken to complete this transfer has been a bit of a joke amongst the Sky Blues fans, on many occasions it was reported the King would be signing ‘by this week’ or ‘available for the next match’, something clear was holding up the deal but nothing official has been released into this.
Rumour has it that some sponsors were unhappy with the signing of King and was threatening to withdraw their financial backing to the club, but until Coventry chairman Ray Ranson explains why the transfer took so long to complete, we will only be able to speculate on this matter.
