Michael Chopra made a goalscoring return to action for Cardiff's reserves on Tuesday.

The striker has been sidelined for just over seven weeks having suffered ankle ligament damage in the 4-0 home win over Doncaster in late August.

His presence in attack has been sorely missed along with that of Craig Bellamy, who returned from his lengthy lay-off to face Barnsley in the club's last game before the current international break.

In a behind-closed-doors friendly at Cardiff's Vale of Glamorgan training ground, Chopra got 60 minutes under his belt in a 5-1 victory over Bristol Rovers.

It will now be up to manager Dave Jones to decide whether Chopra is fit enough to be included in his matchday 18 for Saturday's Severnside derby at home to Bristol City.
