Brighton manager Gus Poyet conceded his side play high-risk football after watching them cruise to a 4-0 win at Charlton to stay top of the table.

Inigo Calderon opened the scoring in the first half and second-half strikes from Glenn Murray, Kazenga LuaLua and Matt Sparrow consigned the Addicks to a heavy defeat, their first at home in the league this season.

Poyet said: ``The result shows that maybe it was easy, but it wasn't at all. We needed to cope with the way that Charlton play. I think that it's clear that we take risks because we pass the ball all of the time."

He added: ``We needed to be very strong defending in our box because we knew they would be putting plenty of crosses and balls into the box.

``I think now after 12 games everybody knows the way we play and that we're going to pass the ball anywhere.

" To be honest it was one of the days where we took more risks.''
