Walsall have completed the signing of Liam Dickinson on an initial one-month loan from Barnsley.

The 25-year-old has struggled to command a regular first-team place for the Tykes this term, but has been a prolific marksman for Stockport and Blackpool in previous campaigns, netting 54 goals in 121 career starts.

Manager Chris Hutchings told Walsall.co.uk: "He's a big, strong lad who will cause problems for defenders."

"He will give us something different to what we've already got. He can run channels, play up on his own or as part of a two-man attack.

"He is a committed and willing lad who will help us put teams under pressure.

"He's scored goals in the past and hopefully this move will kick-start his career and help us get moving up the table."
