Wright-Phillips rumbles Rovers: Match Review

Plymouth's leading scorer Bradley Wright-Phillips took his tally to 10 goals in 10 games with goals in the 77th and 90th minutes in a 3-1 home win over Bristol Rovers.

Both goals followed the same pattern. Winger Craig Noone crossed from the left and in-form striker Wright-Phillips finished with aplomb from close range - the first at the far post, the second from the middle of the six-yard box with a first-time volley.

On-loan Spurs midfielder Dean Parrett volleyed Argyle ahead in the 64th minute after Noone's free-kick flew up off the defensive wall, but Rovers levelled in the next attack.

Pirates striker Will Hoskins volleyed home skipper Stuart Campbell's 67th-minute corner from close range.

Noone then forced a superb stop from Rovers goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen with a thumping first-time 20-yard volley from the left angle of the penalty area.

Plymouth started the match on fire, finding the woodwork three times in a 10-minute first-half spell.

Wright-Phillips hit the post in the 10th and 20th minutes, while Craig Noone's 20-yard shot was palmed on to the crossbar by Pirates number one Mikkel Andersen.

Rovers countered through Charles Reece whose 20-yard shot bounced off the crossbar just before half-time.

At the start of the second half Wright-Phillips forced a great save from Andersen in an end-to-end south-west derby.

In the final minutes Rovers centre-back Danny Coles headed just wide as Rovers went in search of a late leveller.
