Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler could not hide his disappointment with his side's performance after the 2-0 defeat to Wycombe.

Skipper Gareth Ainsworth fired the Chairboys into a 23rd-minute lead, before Kevin Betsy secured the points just after half-time leaving the Gills without a win in four games.

"I am really disappointed," he said.

"We were too loose defensively. They carved us open too many times early on and they made us pay.

"We tried to play a high line when there was no pressure on the ball and you can't do that. It was schoolboy stuff really.

"There's no real belief in us at the moment. When confidence is high you tuck the chances away. Do you bury your head in sand or keep working hard and try to turn things around and that's what you can do."
