A dramatic stoppage-time own-goal by defender Marcos Painter gave Bristol Rovers a deserved 2-2 draw against League One leaders Brighton at Withdean Stadium.

Rovers struck in the second minute of added time when Painter put a corner from skipper Stuart Campbell into his own net.

The Seagulls went behind midway through the first half when they failed to defend a corner from Campbell and a header by Byron Anthony was deflected in off Ashley Barnes.

Brighton levelled when Jeff Hughes put through his own goal after Painter drove a cross into the six-yard box.

Striker Chris Wood, signed on loan from West Brom and making his debut, put Brighton ahead 17 minutes from time from the penalty spot after Anthony brought down substitute Glenn Murray.
