Former Ferencvaros boss Bobby Davison has revealed he has applied to be the new Walsall manager.

The 51-year-old has confirmed he would like to succeed Chris Hutchings in the Banks's Stadium hot-seat and insisted his time abroad sets him apart from the other candidates.

Davison, currently working within the England under-19's set-up, told the Express and Star: "Walsall are in between four big clubs and there's plenty of scope. It's a job that excites me."

He added: "Jobs come up when the club isn't doing well, it's not often they do when a club is, but I will be throwing my hat into the ring.

"There will be different candidates and we'll all have contacts within the game but what makes me a little different is I have European experience and have contacts right across Europe."

"I like to manage the way I played. I like to play exciting football, you've got to have that excitement for the crowd."
