Mooney to end season in Essex

Reading striker David Mooney has extended his loan spell at Colchester until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old Irishman has scored nine goals so far this term having initially joined the U's back in August.

"David wanted to stay with us which was particularly important," said Colchester manager John Ward.

"There was plenty of interest from other clubs but his family are very settled here so he was keen to stay. We are thrilled to bits to extend his loan."
