Vincent Kompany insists Manchester City's £27million new-boy Edin Dzeko will not get stressed by his lacklustre start to life with the Blues.

With Darren Bent marking his Aston Villa debut by belting home the winner against City on Saturday, attention has turned to Dzeko's failure to score in his two games so far.

But, as Kompany told the Manchester Evening News: "Edin will not be affected by it. It happens - strikers miss and defenders concede. Edin has played for a long time in Germany and he has the German mentality which means you just keep working hard."

He added: "The Bundesliga is a completely different league. Nothing compares to the speed and power of the Premier League. It is unequalled in Europe."

Kompany spent two years in Germany with Hamburg before joining the Eastlands revolution.

And he can already see the improvement Dzeko is making.

"I have seen good signs of Edin adapting already," he said.

"But it is not easy, especially as he has come at a full-on part of the season when games are so important."
