Sheffield United have signed Leeds defender Neill Collins for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old returns to Bramall Lane following a previous loan spell in the 2005/06 campaign when he played two games, including a Steel City derby victory at Hillsborough.
He has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and boss Micky Adams told the club`s official website: "I'm thankful the club has allowed me to bring in a player on a permanent deal."
He added: "Neill is someone we have identified as a competitive centre-half with leadership qualities and he knows this division."
Collins said: "The move came out of the blue really but I can see how passionate the manager is and I'm passionate too.
"He's building a good environment at a big club."
