Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski will miss the rest of the season as he requires surgery on a shoulder injury.

The Polish stopper suffered the injury during the warm up of Arsenal's 0-0 draw at home to Manchester City and Arsene Wenger today confirmed that he will need surgery.

The 'keeper's last appearance came back on the 5th January during that Manchester City game but has not played since.

Fabianski will undergo surgery in Germany that is expected to rule him out for four months.

Wojciech Szezcesny will now keep goal for Arsenal and he has kept five clean sheets in ten games this season for the Gunners. He admits he indirectly caused the injury.

Szezcesny said: "I was warming Fabian up before the game with Manchester City and I took a very powerful shot.

"He made a beautiful save but also got an injury. I didn't do it on purpose, I was just doing my job.

"I feel stupid about it. I even told him it would have been better if he didn't save that shot. I take advantage of my team-mate's misfortunes."
