Gannon: I'm the innocent party

Port Vale boss Jim Gannon insists he has no case to answer following his bust-up with assistant Geoff Horsfield and claims the board will not pursue any disciplinary procedures.

The pair clashed on the team bus travelling to Aldershot for Saturday's game, leading to both men leaving the coach although Gannon eventually travelled to Hampshire to oversee the 2-1 without Horsfield.

Gannon told the Stoke Sentinel: "I left the coach of my own accord after taking legal advice. I don't have to work in that environment. I returned to the club and when they removed Geoff I was willing to go back to work."

 

He added: "I'm not subject to any disciplinary action and I'll continue to do my job with the same professionalism and discipline. There's been misrepresentation in the media over my part in this. I'm completely the innocent party.

"I don't need to have a meeting with the board regarding this matter, all I will provide is a witness statement.

"I came back to the club on Friday and held good talks with the chairman regarding the situation and the issues leading up to it. Now it's in the club's hands to make sure procedures are correctly followed, and once it's all clarified, to make a strong statement which shows good leadership."
