Stockport have been boosted ahead of the home clash with Burton after Southend striker Matt Paterson extended his loan spell until the end of the season.

The former Southampton trainee has made six starts and scored two goals for County during his initial month at the club.

He will remain at Edgeley Park until May 7 as the club seek to avoid relegation from the Football League.

However, defender Jordan Rose succumbed to injury during Tuesday`s 3-0 defeat to Accrington and was replaced after just 23 minutes by David Poole.

He will be assessed but is rated doubtful, while fellow defenders Mansour Assoumani and Daniel O`Donnell are definitely sidelined through injury.

Striker Ryan Doble is available again after a three-match ban.

Russell Penn is expected to be fit for Burton.

The midfielder sustained a shoulder injury during the home win over Lincoln in midweek, but should line up against the Hatters.

Nathan Stanton missed out on Tuesday night with a groin strain and it remains to be seen whether he will return to contention.

Captain Darren Moore replaced Stanton at centre-half and, with Albion chasing successive league victories for the first time this season, the latter may have to settle for a place on the bench if fit.

Changes may also be kept to a minimum elsewhere, but midfielders Simon Whaley and Jimmy Phillips as well as strikers Greg Pearson and Richard Walker are available to come into the side.

Paul Peschisolido will also hope to see his injury list eased further by the return to fitness of defender Scott Malone (thigh) and striker Calvin Zola (hamstring).
