A hotly disputed goal deprived Shrewsbury of victory as bogey side Wycombe claimed a 1-1 draw.

The Shrews looked on their way to only their second win in 20 games against Wanderers thanks to a 31st minute strike by James Collins.

But five minutes into the second half Wycombe pressure paid off when Gareth Ainsworth wrong-footed goalkeeper Ben Smith with a header. Smith managed to scoop the ball away but a linesman ruled it had crossed the line despite heated protests from the home side.

Wycombe, who squandered several early chances, found themselves trailing after a mistake by Matt Bloomfield.

He miscued his attempted clearance and Matt Harrold headed the ball into the path of Collins, who prodded home from close range.

In the first minute of the second half Collins thought he had extended the home side's lead when he turned in a low cross from Mat Sadler, but his celebration was cut short by an offside flag.
