Arsenal defender Sebastien Squillaci has issued a rallying call to his teammates ahead of the vital, title run-in.

The Gunners have endured a difficult time of late, having won just one of their last six games, in a month that first saw their Champions League, then their FA Cup dreams fall by the wayside.

Arsene Wenger’s side now hang all their hopes and aspirations on winning the Barclays Premier League title for the first time since 2005 – to end a six year barren spell without a trophy.

Squillaci, who is enjoying his first season at Arsenal after arriving at the Emirates Stadium last summer enthused:

"It is a bit of a bad time that we're having but we have all got to get our chins up and show our mettle against Manchester United for the title.

"That's the remaining target now and we've got to give everything for the cause. Really, it is a case of keeping going and getting the three points, that's the most important thing."

The 30-year-old Frenchman has found first team opportunities limited over the past few months, but the recent injury to Johan Djourou now leaves him as one of just two fit central defenders in the squad.

And Squillaci is ready to play an important role for Arsenal from now until May, and says that the Gunners can take inspiration from their title challengers in their pursuit for domestic glory.

"Look at Manchester United for example, they grind out the wins and that is what counts at the end of the season. So for us, that is the main aim.

"Bouncing back from the disappointments and getting our chins up, showing that Arsenal is a big club, that can win the title."
