Mackay scoops monthly accolade

Watford manager Malky Mackay has been named npower Championship manager of the month for March.

The former Norwich centre-half was handed the award ahead of Portsmouth boss Steve Cotterill, Bristol City manager Keith Millen and Reading chief Brian McDermott after leading the Hornets to three wins from their five fixtures.

Former Charlton and West Ham manager Alan Curbishley chaired the selection panel.

 

He said: "Malky celebrated signing a new contract with another fantastic month.

"Two home wins and an emphatic victory at Ipswich have left the club with an outside chance of making the play-offs."
