Speculation is growing that Rennes goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez could be set to join teammate Sylvain Marveaux at Liverpool this summer, with scouts watching the Frenchman in Saturday’s match with Ligue 1 outfit Brest.

Douchez kept a clean sheet in Rennes’ 2-0 victory in the match up, and according to L’Equipe, impressed Liverpool scouts, who feel Douchez would fit perfectly at Liverpool should the signing of fellow Rennes teammate Sylvian Marveaux be finalised.

Rennes currently sit at fourth on the Ligue 1 table, and are only seven points behind first placed Lille. The French press has lauded the efforts of Douchez in taking the side to title challengers since he was purchased from Toulouse in 2008.

With Pepe Reina reportedly wanting to quit Liverpool in the summer, scouts showing interest in Douchez is expected, but Liverpool will be reportedly facing competition for the keeper’s signature, particularly from Paris Saint-Germain and numerous La Liga sides.
