Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has always only had good things to say about Andy Carroll, though the star striker being labeled a bully is not exactly a common compliment to receive.
But Shearer only means it in the best way possible, saying the young striker bosses opposition in a way that will surely make him a star for Liverpool.
“Andy is excellent. I like the way he bullies defenders,” Shearer said.
“He’s a no-nonsense type of centre forward – technically good, devastating in the air with a rocket left foot, and deceptively fast.”
But Shearer didn’t just praise Carroll’s physical presence for Liverpool; he also believes the 22 year old will be mentally sound to not let any behavior away from the game come into play on the field.
“What’s more, Andy is mentally very strong, which is so important,” Shearer said.
"During all his off-field problems up here, he never let anything affect his game.”
Carroll scored his first two goals for Liverpool in a 3-0 beating of Manchester City on Monday night, and can't seem to get enough love from commentators, fans, fellow players and managers alike.
But with all the pressure placed on the youngster to deliver, so far Carroll has shown that not only does he have the potential everyone is talking about, but he might even surpass those expectations.
