Ipswich have offered new contracts to six of their young players.
Midfielder Luke Hyam, striker Ronan Murray - currently on loan at Torquay - and defender Troy Brown have been handed the chance to extend their stay at Portman Road by at least a year while defensive duo Jack Ainsley and Tom Eastman as well as Conor Hourihane are considering six-month deals.
Town boss Paul Jewell told the club's official website: "The problem with the younger players is that I have not seen anything of them in game situations."
He added: "I have been here for three months or so and I've only seen those lads play against the likes of Stevenage and Oxford reserves.
"I've not seen them at a higher level and that's the difficulty.
"For the lads on shorter deals, I want them to come back in pre-season hungry to show what they can do and hopefully win a longer contract."
