Southend defender Luke Prosser has signed a new one-year contract extension with the League Two club.
The 22-year-old, who spent seven weeks on loan at Rushden and Diamonds at the start of the year, featured 21 times for the Shrimpers this season. Manager Paul Sturrock indicated that Prosser`s form towards the end of the season was deserving of a new deal.
"Luke has shown in the last seven matches that he can do a job in League Two for us," he said.
"He came into the side and coped at left-back very well in my opinion."
The deal includes a clause allowing the club to extend the deal by a further year should they wish to.
