Monaco forward Benjamin Moukandjo has responded to the reported interest shown in him by Liverpool, saying he is 'flattered' to be linked with a move to Merseyside.

According to speculation in the French press, the 22-year-old is being tracked by the Reds as they scour the continent for potential summer acquisitions.

And now, the former Cameroon under 20 international has told skysports.com that he expects to remain with Monaco, although a move to Liverpool is an ambition he would like to fulfil.

Moukandjo said: "Personally, I heard rumours about Liverpool, it is flattering but in reality I should be staying with Monaco unless a dream becomes a reality."

A versatile forward, able to operate through the middle or on the wing, Moukandjo is one of a number of France-based players apparently on the Liverpool radar.

Liverpool are also said to be chasing Lille attacker Gervinho and Rennes star Sylvain Marveaux in their pursuit of more potent wide options.

Metro reports that Moukandjo has been identified by Liverpool as an alternative to Gervinho should the Ivorian opt not to move to Anfield, with the 24-year-old expected to make a decision on his future this week.
