Spurs set for striker talks

Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko is keen to put any speculation surrounding his future to bed by signing a new, long-term contract with Spurs.

With the transfer window having reopened for the summer, the Russian forward was widely tipped to lead a mini-exodus from White Hart Lane.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has begun plans to reshape his squad ahead of the North London club's push for a top four finish next season.

Despite failing to secure a regular starting berth throughout the campaign, it is looking increasingly likely that Pavlyuchenko will be strutting his stuff at the Lane for the foreseeable future, with fellow front-man Robbie Keane almost certain to leave Tottenham this summer.

A fans' favourite, the affable forward has admitted he intends to remain at Spurs, where he scored 12 goals in 37 appearances last season.


 

Pavlyuchenko said: "My aim is to stay at Tottenham and to achieve more success with the club. I have enjoyed my time with the club and I want to stay here.

"Nobody has said to me they are thinking of selling me this summer.

"After my holiday we will discuss the terms of a new contract and my agent will travel to London to see what they are going to offer me."
