Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers has spoken of his admiration for departing midfielder Darren Pratley.

Pratley, 26, refused to sign a new contract at the Liberty Stadium last summer and confirmed he will be leaving the club earlier this week.

Rodgers said: "I'm disappointed that I'm losing a very good player. But I would say to every Swans supporter that if he ever comes back to the Liberty, they should give him the biggest round of applause because he's a good guy and he gave his all for this football club."

He added: "I had a good relationship with Prats and I admire his professionalism.

"It was really, really difficult for him this season because of the contract situation and I think he would probably tell all other players that it's not a situation he'd like to be in again.

"But he came in every day and he gave his best for the club and for the group. Other players when they were out of the team might have sulked and might not have given their best, but he always did."
