Richie Barker has signed a 12-month rolling contract as Bury manager.
He was named as permanent boss earlier this month, but has only just signed a deal after returning from holiday.
Barker, 36, first took caretaker charge of the Shakers in April after Alan Knill left for Scunthorpe following a stint as coach of the club's youth team since July 2010 and guided his side to promotion from League Two.
As a player, Barker made over 500 appearances for several clubs, including Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham.
Barker won six of his eight games in caretaker charge, making his appointment a popular decision among fans.
He has appointed Peter Shirtliff as his assistant.
