Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor is the No.1 target for Blackburn Rovers, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Togo forward has spent most of the season on loan at Real Madrid, and with City having bolstered their squad with Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotteli, Adebayor is expected to leave the club.

But Madrid may pass on the lanky striker, meaning Rovers, who under new owners Venky's are expected to make great strides in the transfer market this summer, lead the race for the City hitman.

City are expected to lose Carlos Tevez this summer, but that won't stop them in their quest to rid themselves of Adebayor, with Sergio Aguero, Javier Pastore and Samuel Eto'o all on their radar.

Rovers are also trying to tempt Roque Santa Cruz away from City, as Steve Kean attempts to build a squad capable of challenging in the top half of the Premier League.
