Liverpool handed tricky season opening

Liverpool face a difficult looking opening to the season after the fixture list didn't hand Kenny Dalglish's side the kindest of starts!

The Reds host Sunderland on the opening Saturday of the season (13th August), before a trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal awaits in the second game of the campaign.

Owen Coyle's Bolton visit Anfield on the 27th August, before a trip to the Briatannia Stadium to face Stoke City a fortnight later following the international break.

Another away date follows on the 17th September, with Liverpool travelling to Spurs to face Harry Redknapp's side. Wolves are the next fixture a week later.

The first Merseyside derby of the season comes at Goodison Park next, with the Reds visiting Everton on the 1st October. Another international break follows before champions Manchester United visit Anfied (15th October).

A home clash with promoted Norwich City follows for Steven Gerrard and his side, before a trip to face old manager Roy Hodgson at the Hawthorns on the 29th October.

Other key dates to note are Chelsea away on November 19th, whilst matches against Manchester City come at Anfield on on the 26th November and Eastlands on the 2nd January. Spurs visit Anfield on 4th February, with a trip to Old Trafford coming a week later on the 11th.

The second Merseyside derby takes place on the 25th February, whilst Arsenal visit Liverpool on the 3rd March.

Closing the season, Liverpool will face away trips to Swansea City and Norwich, with last season's runners-up Chelsea sandwiched between the two in the penultimate game of the campaign.
