Ipswich have signed former Wigan and Derby striker Nathan Ellington from Watford.

The 29-year-old, who has signed a two-year contract, teams back up with Ipswich manager Paul Jewell for a third time.

"I've worked with Nathan before at Wigan and Derby and know his strengths," said Jewell.

"He has shown he can score goals at this level and will add to the competition for places within the squad."

Ellington began his career at Bristol Rovers and moved to Wigan in a club record £1.2million deal in 2002.

He helped Wigan win promotion to the top flight in 2005 before switching to West Brom for £3million the following August. Watford paid £3.25million for Ellington in 2007 and he has since spent time on loan at Derby and Preston.
