Charlton have confirmed the capture of Cedric Evina on a free transfer after he rejected a new deal at Oldham.

The 19-year-old defender, a former Arsenal trainee, twice turned down fresh terms at Boundary Park due to his desire to be closer to London and nearer his family.

Oldham announced on their website last week that Evina was set for Charlton, and he has now completed his switch to The Valley and penned a two-year contract.

He told Charlton`s official website: "I`m glad everything is sorted out and and I`m really happy to be here.

"Chris Powell was probably one of the most consistent left-backs over the last 15 years so learning from him will be the best thing that any youngster in that position could hope for."

Evina initially joined Oldham on loan from the Gunners last October before signing a short-term deal after he was released earlier this year.
