£4m African striker target rejects Gunners terms - reports

West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie has turned his back on a possible move to Arsenal.

The Nigerian international striker enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Barclays Premier League, scoring 15 goals to help the Baggies survive in the top flight.

His form has led to interest from a number of clubs, but a source close to the 29-year-old has revealed that whilst Arsenal are willing to meet the asking price, Odemwingie is not happy about the personal terms on offer.

“Peter is not happy that, while the Gunners are willing to meet West Brom’s transfer fee, there will not be much change in his personal terms," the source told the Daily Star.

“The club are proposing what he considers to be peanuts for him.”


 

Arsene Wenger is known to be in the transfer market this summer, with a striker thought to be high on the Arsenal agenda as the Frenchman looks to find a foil for Robin van Persie.

With Nicklas Bendtner poised for a permanent Emirates exit this summer, Odemwingie has emerged as one of the possible options for the Gunners, whilst Gervinho and Jermain Defoe have also been linked.

However, a move for the former Lokomotiv Mosciw now appears dead in the water following the 'peanuts' personal terms that would have been offered by Arsenal.

Dan Ashworth, sporting and technical director at the Hawthorns, has also moved to dismiss talk of the player leaving for Arsenal this summer, issuing a hands off warning to potential suitors.

“I want to make it clear that Peter Odemwingie is not for sale and remains a key member of our squad."
