Crawley have completed the signing of striker Tyrone Barnett from Macclesfield for an undisclosed fee.

Tyrone, 25, was a reported target of Peterborough and becomes Town manager Steve Evans' sixth summer signing.

Evans told Crawley's official website: "Tyrone is a great signing for us. The lad had a brilliant season and we've watched and analysed him for around six months so you can say we know enough about him."

He added: "He's magnificent in the air and has a great touch for such a big lad. Tyrone acknowledges and respects that he will have some serious competition for a place in the starting XI.

"But that's the same for every player at Crawley Town. Tyrone gets all sorts of goals and that's the sign of a top-class striker at whatever level they play."

Barnett, who spent just one year at Macclesfield following his arrival from Hednesford, scored 13 goals for the Silkmen last season.
