Tottenham Hotspur keeper Heurelho Gomes is looking forward to his third summer in South Africa.
The Brazilian international spent the last two years in the country whilst taking part in the FIFA Confederations Cup and FIFA World Cup respectively, and is now heading back to the continent with Spurs on pre-season duty.
"First of all, the people are so friendly and they love football. They love to be at the stadium and as everyone knows from the World Cup, the atmosphere is special, a lot different to other countries. It’s a great atmosphere to play football in," the stopper told the official Tottenham Hotspur website.
“The stadiums are also fantastic and South Africa did very well for the World Cup. The feeling for the game there is unbelievable. I think it will be ideal preparation for us and we have to be ready for the start of the season."
Harry Redknapp's side are scheduled to take place in the Vodacom Challenge, facing the Kaizer Chiefs on the 16th July and Orlando Pirates three days later. The former PSV Eindhoven goalkeeper is braced for a touch challenge from the domestic sides.
“We know it will be tougher than ever because everyone knows about Tottenham now and what we can do.”
